Women in limnology: From a historical perspective to a present‐day evaluation

Research in limnology is nurtured by the work of many fascinating and passionate women, who have contributed enormously to our understanding inland waters. Female limnologists promoted established bases knowledge about waters fostered need protecting values those ecosystems. However, on numerous occasions, their contribution advancement has not been duly recognized. Here, we review presence women through history discipline: from pioneers origins present day' developments. We aim at visibilizing scientists establish them as role models. also analyze a simple illustrative way current situation limnology, scientific barriers they must deal with, future prospects.
